A taxpayer can view
the tax credit or the tax that has been deducted on his behalf in the form of
TDS. This information is available in the Form 26AS and can be downloaded from
the Income Tax website. It administers information about the tax deducted by numerous
entities on the behalf of the taxpayer.
Form 26AS accommodates the details of tax deducted at source on the salary, interest income, real estate or other investments, advance tax, refund received during the year and any other related information.

Through income tax e-filing website
The site can be accessed via the income tax website. One is required to have a login id and password, or register on the website for himself. On logging in, one can click view their Account and Form 26AS. After clicking on the option which is required by them it will redirect to the TRACES website. The other details is required to be filled in.
Through the TRACES website
After the successful registration, a link and codes will be sent to the registered email id and mobile number, through which one can login to the TRACES website and access their Form. After clicking on the activation link and entering the code, one can login 26AS.
Tax payer’s Internet banking access
A taxpayer who has the access to the Internet banking with a bank is authorised by the Income Tax Department to show the tax credit, can use this facility. To view their Form 26AS, you can login to the Internet banking.
Points to note
1. View of Form 26AS through the Internet banking is available only if the PAN is generalised to that particular account.
2. Only a PAN holder whose TDS has been deducted or who has deposited the tax for self assessment tax, advance tax or TDS on the property can register on TRACES.
